Welcome to Oromo Evangelical Church of Minnesota. I am glad you’re here. This website gives you a glimpse of who we are and provides information about our programs and services. But to fully understand us, I encourage you to come to worship with us in person or online. Coming to our church means you feel you are in the house of the Lord where you hear the word of God, worship in spirit, experience true life with Jesus Christ and belongingness. We have a very committed variety of ministries to help our members in their pursuit for spiritual growth and wholeness. As we are blessed with children, we have Sunday school classes and activities for every age group. I invite you to come and see what God is doing in our church.

Our History

The Oromo Evangelical Church of Minnesota (OECM) is an autonomous Lutheran church incorporated with the Minnesota Secretary of State in 2019. We are a congregation that worships in Afaan Oromo. Afaan Oromo is the language of the Oromo people of Ethiopia, the largest ethnic group in the country.

What we believe

⦁ We believe in One living and true God, everlasting, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love, and the source of all things. We believe that God eternally exists in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit as revealed in the Scripture.
⦁ We believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is our Savior and Lord. We believe that the only way to salvation is through Jesus Christ
We believe that the Holy Spirit dwells in each believer and calls us to faith, repentance and obedience. We believe that the spiritual gifts of the Holy Spirit are given to believers, and are operative today in the life of the church and the believers
